Privacy policy

Last updated September 2, 2026. This policy explains how Clippex collects, uses and shares personal information when you use our AI clipping website, application and related services.

Who is responsible

Clippex operates from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is the organization responsible for personal information described here. Contact support@clippex.tech or write to 2967 Dundas St. W. #1859, Toronto, ON M6P 1Z2.

We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy rules. If you are in another country, your information may be processed in Canada and in the countries of our subprocessors.

Information we collect

Accounts and workspace

When you register we collect your name, email address, password hash or Google sign-in identifiers, workspace membership, role (owner, editor or viewer) and support messages. Billing contacts may include a Stripe customer identifier, plan code and invoice emails. We do not store full card numbers on Clippex servers.

Uploaded video and media

If you upload a file or provide a source URL, we receive the media, filenames, duration, technical metadata and any artwork or brand assets you attach. That media is the core input to transcription, scene ranking, captioning, framing and render.

Transcripts and project data

The pipeline produces transcripts, timestamps, ranked scenes, caption files, framing decisions, render presets and project status events. These artifacts stay associated with your workspace for as long as retention settings and your plan allow.

Renders and downloads

Finished clips, previews, thumbnails and download activity are stored so you can review and export output. Trial and subscription renders do not include a Clippex watermark.

Usage and diagnostics

We log request paths, coarse device and browser data, job identifiers, error traces and performance timings needed to run Cloudflare Workers, queues and GPU jobs. These logs are used for security, reliability and abuse prevention.

Cookies, analytics and advertising measurement

Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember cookie preferences. If you allow analytics, we may load the Meta Pixel in the browser and send corresponding events through Meta’s Conversion API so we can measure campaigns. You can refuse analytics in the consent banner and clear the stored preference. We do not use analytics consent as a condition of creating an account.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • provide AI clipping: transcription, scene ranking, captions, framing and multi-format render;
  • operate workspaces, permissions, billing and credit ledgers;
  • prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents;
  • communicate about the product, billing and material policy changes;
  • measure marketing after you opt in;
  • comply with law and enforce the terms of service.

Credits are calculated from measured source minutes and scene-selection and clipping-model multipliers, with source minutes rounded up. We process duration and job settings for that purpose. We do not sell personal information.

Legal bases and Canadian privacy

Under PIPEDA we collect, use and disclose personal information for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, and with consent where required. Consent may be express (account creation, cookie banner) or implied where the purpose is obvious (processing a video you asked us to clip). You may withdraw optional consent, such as analytics, without losing access to core clipping features.

Sharing and subprocessors

We share information with vendors that help us run Clippex, under contracts that limit their use of the data:

  • Cloudflare for hosting, DNS, Workers, object storage and related edge infrastructure;
  • Stripe for subscription and top-up payments;
  • GPU and media processing partners that render selected clips from your project files;
  • Meta Platforms, only after analytics consent, for Pixel and Conversion API events;
  • Google, if you choose Google sign-in;
  • email delivery providers used for confirmation and transactional mail.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users, or as part of a merger or asset transfer, with notice where the law requires it.

International transfers

Clippex is based in Canada. Vendors may process data in the United States and other countries. Those jurisdictions may not provide the same legal protections as Canada. We use contractual and technical safeguards that are reasonable for a hosted video product, including access controls and encrypted transport.

Retention

Account records stay while the workspace is active and for a limited period afterward for security and accounting. Media, transcripts and renders follow plan retention windows and any earlier deletion you request, unless we must keep a copy for a legal hold, chargeback or abuse investigation. Server logs are kept for a short operational period unless a security review needs a longer window. Billing records are kept as tax and bookkeeping rules require.

Your rights

Subject to PIPEDA and other applicable law, you may request to:

  • access personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate account data;
  • delete a workspace or specific media, within legal limits;
  • withdraw optional analytics consent;
  • close your account.

Send requests to support@clippex.tech. We may need to verify the account owner before we act. We will respond within the time PIPEDA requires. You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are not satisfied.

Security

We use HTTPS, access-scoped storage keys, hashed passwords and least-privilege service credentials. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. You should use a unique password and review member access in your workspace.

Children

Clippex is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child provided information, contact support@clippex.tech and we will delete it.

Automated processing

Transcription, ranking and framing use automated systems. Those systems process your media to produce clips you requested. They are not used to make legal or similarly significant decisions about you unrelated to providing the product.

Changes

We will post updates to this page and change the “last updated” date. If a change is material, we will also provide a more visible notice, such as an email to account owners or a product banner.
